Competition Project 2023
People’s Choice Award
2nd Place Finalist
A collaborative project with Dilara Cengiz and Jacqueline Lai
This project was developed as part of a student competition for a new condominium in downtown Toronto. The challenge: to design a highly functional studio apartment within a compact 35m² footprint.

The space responds to shifting needs throughout the day—supporting rest, movement, and everyday rituals in one continuous flow.

This integrated wall system doesn’t just divide zones—it holds daily life. Acting as both storage and structure, it supports work, rest, and privacy while creating a seamless threshold between living and bathing spaces.

A hidden desk folds out from the wall, turning the living space into a focused work zone when needed—supporting flexible routines in a small footprint.

A curved, slatted door slides open to reveal the bathroom and laundry zone—offering privacy without harsh separation. The shape softens circulation and adds warmth to functional flow.

Rotates out at night, tucks away by day—space made to shift.

The bed rotates out from under the cabinetry, transforming the lounge into a sleep space—no clutter, no compromise.

Concept
This project began with a simple goal: to make a small space feel adaptable, clear, and livable. Our concept focuses on the user’s daily journey. We designed the studio to shift between functions—resting, working, moving—without clutter or interruption. Instead of fixed zones, we used transformable furniture, storage-rich millwork, and soft transitions to support real life in a compact footprint.
